The Klaxxi Faction Guide

The Klaxxi
This guide is more of a summary of links that you can use if you have any questions you need answered quickly. I didn’t go into the dailies in detail because let’s face it, you pick up all the blue “!” open your map and go to the area. Once you do them you will fly through them quickly. At Honored, players can purchase Restorative Amber, which is like Major Dreamless Sleep Potion with a vanity effect. They can also buy a wide assortment of Justice Points gear and Blacksmithing recipes.
Chests: (2200 Justice Points)
Wrists: (1250 Justice Points)
Hands: Honored (1750 Justice Points)
Blacksmithing Plans: Honored (20 Kyparite each)
Belts: Revered (1750 Valor Points)
To grind rep with The Klaxxi, you’ll have to do a long quest line in Dread Wastes starting with Psycho Mantid. This should get you to Honored, where there are at least 6 quests available from the Elders you freed.
Also at Revered, you free two more Paragons, who give you additional daily quests. There are 3 different hidden dailies that available as drops for elite mobs in the areas where the other dailies are located.
  • Kypa’rak – Found at 34.0, 62.1 in the Dread Wastes. Once you kill this elite mob it will drop the Massive Kypraite Core which starts a quest you can hand in as a daily with the same associated rewards as other dailies for the Klaxxi. This elite also has a chance to drop an ilevel 450 staff as well, Kaleiki’s Lost Training Staff, it looks to be ok for Agility based classes.
  • Warload Gurthan – Found at 66.3, 31.5 in the Dread Wastes. You will need help summoning this elite mob, there is 2 runes on the ground and one person has to /kneel in on and the other person has to /sleep on the other for the boss to spawn. Once killed he will drop The Ashes of Warlord Gurthan, which starts a quest you can hand in as a daily with the same associated rewards as other dailies for the Klaxxi. This elite can also drop an ilevel 429 green crossbow but it’s nothing to write home about.
  • Karanosh –Found at 41.8, 32.8 in the Dread Wastes. Once you kill this elite mob it will drop Enormous Kunchong Mandibles which starts a quest you can hand in as a daily with the same associated rewards as other dailies for the Klaxxi.
At Exalted, you can pick up vanity-themed items. Klaxxi Tabard is a tabard that only serves a cosmetic purpose, while Reins of the Amber Scorpion should especially make Alliance players happy, as it’s a Horde-style scorpion mount. The most interesting reward at Exalted is a series of ilevel 463 weapons with distinctive amber-dipped looks for transmog.
Weapons: Exalted (Sold for Gold)
Also at Exalted, you can get an epic ilevel 489 ring from completing Shadow of the Empire. You must ensure you’ve completed Amber is the Color of My Energy before this quest will appear to you, even if Exalted. After you unlock all of the Klaxxi elders, you can request buffs from them, Enhancements and Augments.

New WoW Character Leveling Tips

Today I present to you a guest post from KhasDylar.  This is an entry for the monthly Cold’s Gold Blogging Carnivals over at Cold’s Gold Factory.

This month, the monthly topic asks participants:

What Are Some Things You Recommend Players Look Out For While Leveling A New Character In World of Warcraft?

For creating a new character, the first thing one has to decide: why do I want that character? I want it to be a gatherer alt, a raiding toon, am I rerolling ’cause I’m now bored with my old main? Or just simply want one from that class-race combo too, just to have fun? The most important thing is to set this goal before even creating a new character. This is simply important because you need to know what you want, not just wander around blindly or you are just wasting your time. There are several more reasons why someone could roll a new toon, but I won’t list them all here.

Time is a crucial point while leveling. Depending on your goal, you want either level the fastest way you can (for example: if you want to raid with it) or keep a slow pace.
Let me make an example: two of my friends play WoW only 1-2 months every year, meaning they are not too well equipped with high end help (only me and another friend helps them). I always keep a toon somewhere around their level range to be able to play with them. To ensure that I don’t level faster than they, I simply don’t use Heirlooms. We are in the same guild, so the guild perk bonus is equal for us.

Many players tend to forget about their mains and it’s possibilities, when playing a new character – don’t be that guy! For a lvl85 character it’s not a big problem to send some 20-22 slot bags for the little one and trust me, it greatly helps! Of course, it helps the most for a gatherer alt, but every new toon is gratefull for some new equipment.
If you happen to level a gatherer alt, don’t make the same mistake as I did with mine: I tried to get up the gathering profs while leveling my toon. You’ll be bored to death for sure. A max level character has much more traveling options (use of flying mounts for example) than a lower level one and in most regions he doesn’t have to fear from death, he can go whereever he wants – and the feeling when you AoE a dozen mobs who are guarding your precious mineral node, now that’s priceless!

Another way to use your mains resources are of course the Heirlooms. But hey! Watch where you buy them! Don’t just use the Justice vendors, there is still the Argent Tournament quest hub, where you can collect Crusader’s Seals, these can be used to buy Heirlooms as well. If you have some spare Crusader’s Seal with you from the good old WotLK days, it’s a good time to spend them. Another way to utilise them are the BoE pets: with the incoming Pet Battle System in Mists, their prices will elevate a bit – but that’s another topic.

Once you reach the max level, you stand there with a bunch of ilvl 318-333 stuff across all the slots and you can barely enter a Tier 1 Heroic instance with that. Don’t be afraid to spend some Justice and Valor Points on BoE high end epics: up from ilvl 365 ones ’til 397 Valor BoEs, you can almost equip your fresh toon in all of the slots with shiny purples. With that you can already enter Looking for Raid, where you can shower in the ilvl 384-390 stuff. This is not only important for wannabe raiding toons, but you can level faster with better gear in the upcoming Mists expansion, which is soon upon us!

Some words about the professions and their leveling. As I said above, it’s a good practice to first hit lvl85 (or similar high level) before raising a gathering profession. Of course it’s not forbidden to pick a flower or mine a node once in a while during the levelup, but it’s not worth spending too much time on it. This is still true nowdays, when the gathering also gives experience.
As to every rule, there are exceptions to this one also, Skinning is a good example. If you plan to level with questing, which can be very fun and effective in Cataclysm, you are killing lots of monsters anyway, it would be foolish to leave their pelts rot in the wastes – rather skin them and honor their noble sacrifice.
Enchanting being another exception as you’ll be getting tons of trash greens and blues, which you can’t use anyway. Don’t vendor, rather disenchant them. If you want to level Enchanting later, it will be either expensive or a real pain in the a$$.

So, to summarize my advices: the key point in leveling a new character is time management, because we all want to have fun (be it raiding or just fooling around in Azeroth) and why should we delay ourselves in that?

Pilgrim’s Bounty: Gobble Gobble That XP

Gobble Gobble Nom Nom: It’s XP Time!

It’s that time of year again WOWheads: Pilgrim’s Bounty! Not only can you get a title and a free pet turkey (who you can’t cook and serve at the dinner table) but you can also get some massive XP from the daily quests and level up your cooking quick and easy. Pilgrim’s Bounty starts on November 20 and ends November 27. One full week of eating, cooking and questing can fill any player up to last until next year (or the next major world event).

Roasting Skill Points in Cooking:

Cooking is a pain for most who don’t level their cooking as they level their toon. There are many level 85’s walking around who only know how to make Spice Bread. Whether you dislike cooking or just don’t’ have the gold/meat/fish for leveling it up, Pilgrim’s Bounty offers plentiful recipes with plentiful skill points for your Cooking profession. There are 5 recipes that one can learn whether you are level 1 or level 85. Each recipe also creates a food that gives buffs respectively.

  • Spice Bread Stuffing can be learned at level 1 and can level your character’s cooking up to level 100
  • Pumpkin Pie can be learned at level 100 and can level your character’s cooking up to level 160
  • Cranberry Chutney can be learned at level 160 and can level your character’s cooking up to level 220
  • Candied Sweet Potato can be learned at level 220 and can level your character’s cooking up to level 280
  • Slow-Roasted Turkey can be learned at level 280 and can level your character’s cooking up to level 340

The best thing about leveling your cooking during this once-a-year world event is that the ingredients are very easy to obtain. The herbs, pumpkins, cranberries and potatoes can be purchased at your city’s Pilgrim’s Bounty vendors. The wild turkey can easily be farmed in Elwynn Forest (Alliance) and/or Tirisfal Glades (Horde). The wild turkeys drop from wild turkeys and lonely turkeys respectively. Let me point at that you do not have to be Alliance to farm in Elwynn Forest nor do you have to be Horde to farm in Tirisfal Glades. If you choose to farm in an area mostly occupied by the opposing faction’s players, be forewarned that you might be flagged PVP if you venture too close to that faction’s city or town.

Daily Quests for You Gobblers

There are 5 daily quests for each faction that all players can participate in. Completing these five daily quests can yield xp, silver/gold and 1 of 6 Pilgrim’s Bounty items. Here is the list of the five daily quests that can be completed during the Pilgrim’s Bounty week:

  • We’re Out of Cranberry Chutney again?
  • She Says Potato
  • Don’t Forget the Stuffing!
  • Can’t Get Enough Turkey
  • Easy As Pie

Here Turkey Turkey

So you want to go for the Pilgrim title and the free plump pet turkey? There are a list of achievements you will have to complete in order to receive your title and pet. Do keep in mind that achieving the Pilgrim will not count towards the achievement What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been (which rewards one with a Violet Proto-Drake flying mount). Here is the list of achievements you will need in order to get your Pilgrim title and pet:

  • FOOD FIGHT
  • Now We’re Cookin’
  • Pilgrim’s Paunch
  • Pilgrim’s Peril
  • Pilgrim’s Progress
  • Sharing Is Caring
  • Terokkar Turkey Time
  • The Turkinator
  • Turkey Lurkey

Pilgrim’s Bounty is a very fun and great way to level up your characters either via cooking or daily quests. So get out your turkey shooter and go hunt those wild turkeys!

Fill Up Your Mug With Some XP and Brew

brewfest 300x187 Fill Up Your Mug With Some XP and Brew

Brewfest is here again and there is more to fill up with than the brew.  Brewfest is a great time to fill up your mug with some extra xp and gold.   All levels can participate in the fun events being offered.  Brewfest is located outside Ironforge (Alliance) and Orgrimmar (Horde).  This year’s brewfest has many new rewards  for those lucky enough to face off against Coren Direbrew.

Coren Direbrew Rewards

Doing this daily boss/dungeon will get you a special keg which can drop an epic item and/or even a mount!  Not to mention Coren himself drops different trinkets which are now item level 365.  For a list of all the trinkets click here.  There is also a chance to get two awesome looking mounts: Swift Brewfest Ram and/or the Great Brewfest Kodo.  These will only drop in your Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest which is a daily reward you will receive if you defeat Coren Direbrew.  There are two epic weapons that can drop in the daily keg as well: Direbrew’s Bloody Shanker (BOP) or Tremendous Tankard O’ Terror (BOE).  Direbrew’s Remote is a nice item that can drop as well.  This item allows for the teleportation of you and/or your party members straight to the Grim Guzzler located in Blackrock Depths.

Brewfest Daily Quests

Every day until October 5, you can do daily Brewfest quests.  For most of the quests you complete you will collect experience, silver/gold and Brewfest Prize tokens which can be used to purchase other goodies from a token redeemer.  You can also obtain two different vanity pets/companions as well.  The Wolpertinger is part of a daily quest and the Pint-Sized Pink Pacheyderm can be purchase with 100 tokens.  You can also get many achievements that are funny and crazy.  For a list of all the achievements, click here.

Leveling Your Alt Toon

nabbey 300x176 Leveling Your Alt ToonSo, you decided to make an alt toon but are dreading the leveling you will have to face? No worries anymore. WOW has made it quite simple to level your toons a bit faster.  If you have a main toon that is 85, you can always send mats, gold etc to your alt toon to help it along with professions as well.  Mining and Herbalism do grant you extra experience if you choose to learn these specific professions.

Guild Perks

First of all, if your toon is an alt, you may already be part of a guild which has guild perks. One great guild perk is achieved at Guild Level 2.  This guild perk gives your toon an extra 5% increase when completing quests and killing monsters.  If you are part of a guild whose level is already 6, you get a 10% increase when completing quests and killing monsters.

Blue Bar, Blue Bar!

No matter which starting area you start at or which faction you choose, questing is easy.  I went up to level 5 easily within 30 minutes of playing my alt toon.  One thing you want to make sure of before you turn in any quests is that your experience bar (which is located above  your ability/user interface bar) is blue and not purple.  When you turn in a quest and your bar is blue, you get 200% of the experience instead of 100%.  You will turn purple if you fight or kill something but if you are simply turning in quests, your bar can remain blue as long as you rest at an inn or major city.  This means you must stay there until your bar turns blue or leave your toon and log off for a bit.

Quests

Questing is a great way to level up your toon as well.  I usually take quests which are orange (coloring of the quest title) and yellow.  If a quest turns green on me, I will abandon it.  Keep in mind as you are completing quests, you are also killing monsters, beasts, etc.  So you are getting experience from killing things as well as completing the quests.  Don’t forget to rest at an inn or any major city before you turn in your completed quests.

Battlegrounds

Once you reach level 10, you unlock two battlegrounds: Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin.  The interesting thing about battlegrounds is that if you enter while your experience bar is blue, it will not turn purple when you are playing a battleground.  Of course, you can earn honor points and experience in these battlegrounds.  You can receive double experience and honor points if one of the battlegrounds happens to be Call To Arms as well.  Your honor points can be stored (cap is 4000) until you are ready to purchase something with them.

Dungeons

When you reach level 15, you are eligible to enter random dungeons.  Dungeons are another great way to level your toon quick.  Not to mention, you will get gold, extra experience and a bag of goodies which usually contain a rare piece of gear.

Questing, battles and random dungeons are all great ways for you to level up your alt toon.  Chances are you may know the quests from previous toons as well as the dungeons.  I have seen some of my guild mates level up 10 levels very quickly.  Hopefully these basic tips can help you when you are ready to make an alternate toon.  Good luck!

Call To Arms: Support your faction and get awesome benefits!

wsg Call To Arms: Support your faction and get awesome benefits!

Semper Fi! This shortened term means “always faithful” and is often used as the motto for the U.S. Marine Corps. Whether your Alliance or Horde, most of us are loyal to our faction. There is a weekly event which happens on every server and faction that tests our loyalty. This special event is called Call To Arms.  Every Friday through Monday, there is a designated battleground which hosts Call To Arms.

Benefits

Call To Arms is a great way to level and/or farm honor points.  It is also a great way to learn how to play your character better.  You may enter battlegrounds at level 10.  There are 2 battlegrounds you can enter at this level: Warsong Gulch (one of my personal favorites) and Arathi Basin.   Check your game calendar by right-clicking the calendar icon located at the far right corner on top of your mini-map.  Make sure your filter is set to Battleground Call To Arms.  I power leveled my alternate character from 10-30 on a Call To Arms: Warsong Gulch weekend.  I also obtained so many honor points that I capped at 4000 by the time all was said and done.  Honor points can be exchanged for PVP items at your faction’s PVP vendors located mainly in Stormwind’s Champion’s Hall (Alliance) and Orgrimmar’s Hall of Legends (Horde).  There are a few other locations which sell PVP items for lower levels as well.  Here is a list for Alliance and Horde on where to purchase lower level PVP items.  One can check which battleground is Call To Arms during that specific weekend by clicking on their PVP icon located at the bottom of their user interface.  You can join by yourself or get a party of 5 and join as a group.

Alliance:

Horde:

  • Arathi Highlands – Hammerfall (Rutherford Twing) Items for level 28-60
  • Northern Barrens – Mor’shan Base Camp (Kelm Hargunth) Items for level 18-60
  • Hillsbrad Foothills – Alterac Mountains (Jekyll Flandring) Items for level 55-60

eos 300x181 Call To Arms: Support your faction and get awesome benefits!

You want to make certain that your experience bar is blue which means when you get experience in these specific battlegrounds, you will never turn purple.  You will get 200% experience when your experience bar is blue as opposed to 100% when purple.  Did I mention that if you do engage in a Call To Arms battleground, your honor points and experience will be doubled?  This is great news for anyone trying to power level their character.

What If I Am Level 85?

Benefits for a level 85 when you can  no longer get experience is pleasant as well.  You will still obtain double the honor points and be able to purchase some nice epic PVP gear and weapons.  Not to mention, you will be able to get achievements and reputation with some of the PVP factions.

So make sure you check your Call To Arms weekly battlegrounds and support your faction.  Whether you are power leveling or just farming honor points, Call To Arms is sure to benefit your character.  Oorah!

MidSummer Fire Festival = Flaming XP!

msf1 300x180 MidSummer Fire Festival = Flaming XP!

Midsummer Fire Festival Is Live

This past Tuesday, something interesting happened in WOW. Not just the normal server restarts that happen every week, but the Midsummer’s Fire Festival also started. This is a world event that only comes once a year. This is an excellent time to get awesome experience for your characters.

I have a level 41 Shaman who went up one full level simply honoring the flames near of the flight paths he has. Not only did he receive great experience but he also received 30 silver and 5 burning blossoms for each flame he honored. The burning blossoms can be used to purchase Midsummer’s special items including a captured flame pet. Don’t forget to visit any ribbonpole in your faction’s major city. Simply click on the cogwheel at the ribbonpole and let your character spin around until it acquires the 1 hour buff to gain an extra 10% experience for killing monsters. This buff will be displayed on the top right area next to your map located in the right corner of your user interface.
Your faction’s flames should not be difficult to find since most of them are located near of flight paths. For a complete list of where to honor or desecrate the flames, click WowWiki or Wowhead. You can also desecrate the opposite faction’s flame and receive even more experience, silver and burning blossoms than you did for honoring your factions flames. Be careful when you desecrate the opposing faction’s flames, since you will be flagged PVP for 5 minutes. This means the other faction can attack and possibly kill you while your flagged. I never had anyone come after me but this is a big world of Warcraft so make certain you get out of harm’s way after you take an enemy flame.
If you are feeling really lucky, why not try to steal the opposing faction’s flames? You will need to enter any 4 of the opposite factions major cities and locate their special bonfire which should have a cogwheel to click on. You simply pick up that city’s flame and hightail it out of there before they attack. The flame is a quest you can open and return back to your city’s Festival Lore master. There should be 4 possible flame quests available to both Alliance and Horde.

If you are Alliance, you will need to steal the flames from:

  • Orgrimmar – located in the Valley of Wisdom
  • Thunder Bluff – located on the east side of The Spirit Rise
  • Silvermoon City – located deep inside to the left of The Court of the Sun
  • Undercity – located in the northern courtyard inside the walls near the main entrance

If you are Horde, you will need to steal the flames from:

  • Stormwind – located north of the Mages Quarters by The Stockades
  • Ironforge - located in the Hall of Explorers (From Deeprun Tram make a right)
  • Darnassus – located south of Warriors Terrace at the main entrance into Teldrassil
  • Exodar – located just inside the Crystal Hall (From the main entrance use the second set of stairs to your right)

Each flame will give you a separate quest to turn in.  Once you complete all 4 of the quests, you will be given an achievement called “King of the Fire Festival”. This is a required achievement if you are working towards getting the “Flame Warden” title.

I would like to note, that I did complete this with my death knight who was only 70 at the time. If you are at least 60 and have the flying training, you have a good chance to do most if not all 4 flames of the opposing faction.  If possible, ask a fellow guild mate or friend who is equal or higher than your level to assist you.
This world event ends at 11:59 p.m. realm time on July 4. Everyone of your characters can benefit from this special world event. So get out there and get that flaming xp!
